Becca Samuel

Hi friends! My name is Becca and I have been involved with Youth Resources for a little over six years. I first joined in 7th grade when my mom made me go to TEENPOWER. Now, I’m going into my third year of TEENPOWER Youth Staff, I’m the President of the Teen Advisory Council, and I volunteer with Vanderburgh Co. Teen Court. Youth Resources is the best of me and so much more. I’ve learned what it means to be a true member of a community through the love and empathy modeled every day at YR. I find myself doing things I never thought I’d do - like speaking in front of 150 people or waking up at 4AM every other Friday - and it’s because the people at YR believe in me. I am a better servant-leader, listener, friend, and just all-around human for knowing them. This year, I’m especially grateful to YR for showing me that there is nothing that true community can’t overcome. We’ve adapted our programming so we can still show up for each other in service and leadership, leaning on each other and sharing the load when things are heavy, and holding each other and laughing through the good stuff. I wouldn’t be where I am without Youth Resources and that’s why I am celebrating today: I want to help make sure YR can continue to connect kids - like me - to friends, mentors, and opportunities forever.
