Continuous learning to help support my daughter and family.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am reaching out to you today to share my story and ask for your support. As many of you know, I have been working as a licensed practical nurse for over 13 years. However, I recently experienced a nervous breakdown at work due to suffering from anxiety and depression. This experience made me realize that I needed to make a change in my life.

In January 2023, my father passed away. Before he passed, I made a promise to him that I would finish school and be the first in our family to graduate. After seeing how the nursing home cared for him and him passing away, I could no longer continue working at establishments like that. I decided to go back to school and pursue a business degree from the University of Phoenix. I am now only 4 classes away from obtaining my degree.

I am requesting funds to help pay for school and expenses while in school. I have applied for grant after grant with no success and have capped out from government funding due to being in school a lot. I have taken various courses over the years, including a certified nursing assistant course and a phlebotomy course, which I worked as while in school for nursing. After becoming a nurse, I was constantly taking courses towards my RN (registered nurse) degree before realizing that was not my calling. Now, I am back in school and just need to finish.

I am 38 years old with a daughter in 8th grade. So far, the things business school has taught me have aided in starting to work on my credit, learning how to run and maintain a business, and wanting to implement that while showing my daughter it's never too late and you're never too old to follow your dreams.
