Ghana: Children of Africa

From Jack Brinkley

I spent my summer building a schoolhouse in Africa. I'm raising money for a school in an underserved community in Ghana so they can purchase essential school supplies once the school is completed.

Hi, my name is Jack. I am 18 years old and am a senior. This past summer I spent time in Ghana volunteering at a schoolhouse in an underserved community with Global Leadership Adventures. During my time there, I helped build a school classroom, taught English to young Ghanians and immersed myself in their culture and way of life. I cleared brush, laid foundation for the flooring and put up walls for the school.

My experience provided me with a global perspective: that developing countries do not have the same access to infrastructure, supplies, education or even clean running water that we in developed countries sometimes take for granted.

My experience was so meaningful to me due to the connections I made with the Ghana community that I wanted to use my skillset of teaching to help fundraise for the school.  Through volunteering my time to tutor other students, I am fundraising to raise money to give back to the Ghana community where I helped build the school which provided such a wonderful experience for me. I want to provide them with resources to be able to purchase school equipment and essential supplies (desks, chairs, chalkboard, paper, pencils, etc.) so the children and students of the school can have supplies to use once the school is completed.

Please share my page to help me reach as many people as possible.
