Girls AAU Travel Basketball Team "Shots Up_Hill"

My husband is currently coaching an all-girls teenage Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Travel Basketball Team (Team Name is” Shots Up_Hill”) which my daughter is a member of. These girls are ages 15 – 16. Although I am not the coach, I assist and support my husband in numerous other related tasks to support the team. This team is a special level team and requires parents to pay a variety of fees not only to join the team but to participate in the various travel events during their season. A special level team consists of individuals, that through prior seasons have achieved a level of competitive excellence that qualifies them to be on this team. It is a high-performance group of athletes. The total expense of participating on this team is a challenging burden for parents. I hope that you can join in our support of these young women with a monetary donation to assist these parents with the cost of having their daughters participate on this special achievement team, thus allowing them the opportunity to not only become better athletes but also support their engagement in both mentally and physically healthy activities while being competitive and team building. In today’s world of cell phones and video games, it’s refreshing to see young women playing a physical, team sport, which not only is a healthier alternative to video devices but through teamwork helps establish communication skills, responsibility, and discipline. I believe in endeavors of this type results in a more balanced individual who will be better prepared for the challenges of young adulthood.

There are currently 11 members of our team. The monetary requirements of each team member are as follows:

$400 - Tournament Fees

1-2 Nights in Hotel in West Chester, PA (approximately at least $120/night) $240

2 Nights Stay in Hotel in Ocean City, MD (approximately at least $375/night) $750

This results in an estimated team cost of at least $10,000.

Our team is based in Springfield, Virginia and we practice 2 nights a week. Our tournaments start in late March.  Overall, we expect to play 36 games, of which 2 are out of town and require overnight stays, during our season.  I hope that you will consider my financial request for assistance to these young ladies.
