September 8th, when a violent earthquake struck Morocco, I contacted my host brother & family with whom I lived while serving there in the Peace Corps from 2010-12. This campaign is for those impacted by the tragedy.

I had the pleasure to serve in Morocco from 2010-2012 with the Peace Corps, an experience that changed my life in immeasurable ways. Stationed in Ouled Ali, a small village nestled in the middle Atlas mountains a few hours east of Fez, I was accepted immediately by the local community as a sister. Though the Peace Corp paid me a living stipend, I would never have gone hungry, un-housed, or unclothed. Moroccan people are gracious givers of their time and energy. They always gave more than they had and even then, they always wanted to give more. Their caring culture, diverse languages, hearty foods, beautiful art, and incredible vistas have struck awe in foreign travelers for centuries. I bow deeply in gratitude for the opportunity to learn so much from this country that gave me so much more than I could have ever left behind during my time serving there. It is so important to me that I do what I can to help my ait uxam amaġribi (Moroccan Family). My wonderful host brother will be receiving these funds and taking them directly to the communities most heavily impacted in the High Atlas mountains. I send immense gratitude to everyone who is able to help with whatever amount you can give.
