Meet D.B., a remarkable woman in her mid-fifties, embarking on an extraordinary journey to make a difference in the lives of autistic children. D.B. is a devoted mother to a profoundly autistic young man whose unique challenges have fueled her passion to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This brave decision led her to pursue a master's degree, prompting a cross-country move to immerse herself in the knowledge and skills needed for this transformative profession.
However, life's unpredictable twists have thrown D.B. onto an unexpected path. During her pursuit of knowledge and dedication to her son's well-being, D.B. has encountered severe medical issues that have not only taken a toll on her health but have also jeopardized her ability to work. As a result, she is now facing the harsh reality of housing insecurity, compounded by the absence of a basic necessity: transportation. D.B. is very proud and hard-working, and she will not ask for help. At this time, she does not qualify for financial assistance, as she has a full-time job but she has exhausted all of her financial resources and desperately needs our help and support. Despite these challenges, D.B. remains unwavering in her commitment to her education, her dreams to better the lives of individuals with autism and their families, her son's future, as well as the continued support of the entire autism community.
