This is Ken. Ken is an avid runner whose life was changed for the better the day he & his wife adopted Scooter. Now he runs to help homeless pets find their forever homes too.

UPDATE 4/4/14:  Our supporters are absolutely AMAZING!  In less than 48 hours, you helped Ken reach is $1,000 goal.  Not one to turn down a challenge, Ken has decided to sweeten the pot...by adding some brightly colored knee-highs if we hit $1,500.  And if we hit $2,000?  Ken will pin a tail on his tutu and sport some matching cat ears to boot!  Help us make Ken's knee high & cat tail dreams come true!

Meet Ken.  Ken and his lovely wife Jen adopted Scooter from DuPage County Animal Care & Control shortly after Christmas Day in 2011.  You might think that Scooter's life was the one that changed for the better that day.  In fact, Ken and Jen say that it is Scooter who has made their lives whole.

In honor of Scooter - the dog who spoke to them from the dozens of other faces staring at them from the computer screen - and the thousands of other homeless pets like him, Ken runs.  He runs because saving animals' lives is a passion for him, just like running has been.

In fact, Ken is SO passionate about helping our shelter animals that he is ready and willing to endure public humiliation.  It is with great anticipation that we announce:  Ken's "Frilly 5K" Fundraiser.  What makes a 5K Frilly?  Well, that's up to YOU to decide.  And the more money raised, the "Frillier" it gets.

Here's how it works:

If we collectively raise $500, Ken will don a lovely, ever-so-frilly, pink tutu while he runs in the upcoming Just Run 5K in Carol Stream on May 17th.

But wait, it gets better.

Cheers from the sidelines won't be enough. If we raise $750, Ken will also don a lovely, ever-supportive sports bra along with his frilly pink tutu during his race.

And if we raise $1,000.  Well, he'll be hard to miss as he floats by in a tutu, sports bra AND bright, ladies short shorts.  Watch out Daisy Duke.  Here comes Ken.

It's all in good fun and for a good cause.  100% of monies raised from Ken's Frilly 5K directly benefit DuPage County Animal Care & Control's homeless pets.

DCACC cares for nearly 4,000 animals every year...all without the support of tax dollars.  Funds raised allow us at the Friends of DCACC Foundation to continue the life saving programs and projects that help enhance the quality of life of DCACC's shelter animals and ensure that their adoptive home is their forever home.  So that they can all be as happy as Scooter is now.

Thank you for your support!
