About the KPMG Team

As you know, recognizing that strong reading skills are the basis for future success, and understanding that the toughest roadblock to children’s literacy in low-income communities is a lack of books. To help combat this, our firm established KPMG Family for Literacy (KFFL), with a mission to improve childhood literacy by providing quality books directly into the hands of youth in the communities in which we live and work. Managed in collaboration with First Book, KFFL provides new books to children from low-income families.

The KPMG Detroit Mission

This summer, our Detroit KFFL chapter has partnered with United Way in sponsoring this year’s “Meet Up, Eat Up, and Read Up” block parties at which children from 7 different communities in Detroit will benefit from our donation. Our promise is a significant one – that we will raise enough funds that will allow us to purchase and distribute 500 books to the children in each of the 7 neighborhoods.

Additionally, we have committed to hosting book reads at local elementary schools and providing new books to every student, so that each child can have one or more books to add to his/her own personal library.

In order to accomplish this goal, each of our 14 teams will work to raise funds totaling $2,500, for a grand total goal of $35,000.
