Tyres are unarguably the most important and expensive components of a vehicle. There is a huge variety of tyres available for all kinds of cars that you can check from an online tyres shop. Sometimes, when you are not careful with your tyres, don’t maintain them, or get poor-quality tyres, they wear out prematurely. One has to deal with flat tyres that are caused by road debris. This requires tyre repair or replacement.

In that case, you should be aware if you have a warranty that shall cover the cost.

With a tyre warranty, you get the financial protection if your tyres get damaged due to some incident. Not through normal use or wear and tear. You need to buy a particular tyre warranty as most the car warranties do not include coverage of your car tyres when you buy them.

Types of Tyre Warranty

Like any other warranties, different tyre warranties also offer different levels of coverage. And some tend to be more detailed than others. So, make it a point to ensure that you are well aware of the details of your warranty while buying new tyres. Tyre manufacturing companies and tyre stores offer customers a limited number of warranties. The most common that almost everyone is familiar with is the tread-life warranty.

There are a few others too. Let’s take a look at the different types of tyre warranties:

All tyre manufacturers offer a tread life warranty. So, when you purchase tyres, getting a tread life warranty is a given. Steer clear of tyres you don’t get a tread life warranty with. The tyre manufacturer offers this warranty on a certain number of kilometers, which is usually between 70,000 and 100,000 kilometers the tyre can last under normal driving conditions. Sometimes, there is a time limit in place as well. You can get some money back if the tyre tread wears down past 1.6mm before the tyre reaches the set limits in kilometers and duration.

Materials and Workmanship warranty is usually offered for the life of the tyre. It covers any manufacturing defects. This warranty is allocated after the expiry of the tread-life warranty.

If your tyres suffer from any ride issues, a uniformity warranty will cover you. This is a rare type of warranty and you will notice any issue like this instantly because the car vibrates and your ride will likely end.

Some tyre manufacturers offer special warranties to customers. A common one is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Furthermore, sometimes, free tire-change roadside assistance is thrown in as well.

This warranty is usually offered by tyre shops. Road hazards warranty covers the repair of your tyre in case it gets flat. However, it applies if they are still within the warranty limit. If the tyre needs replacement, the amount is usually prorated. If you have to drive a lot on unpaved and bad bumpy roads, a road hazard warranty might be a good idea for you.
