Dear Family and Friends,
Let me explain:
My intentions are to graduate from college and attend medical school, followed by a residency in Psychiatry. If all goes well, I will be the second Sistrunk attending medical school, following my cousin Jasmine. Therefore, I am ecstatic to have been chosen, on the basis of academic merit, to attend the advanced medicine program at John Hopkins University for high school seniors through ENVISION and the National Student Leadership Conference at UC Berkley.
However, these programs present a financial challenge by totaling $10,000. I have applied for many scholarships, and thus far, have been awarded $500 towards the $10,000 goal. Most scholarships awarded do not exceed $1,000 and without family contributions, I will have unavoidable shortcomings. This is where I need your help.
Both programs expect family contributions, therefore I am humbly requesting financial support from my dear family members and friends, no matter how small. Please note that any contributions made to me as a minor are tax deductible and for amounts less than $17,000, no forms to the IRS are required. You may claim any contributions on your taxes, just as you would any charitable donation. I will keep everyone informed and updated with the latest news regarding scholarships, dates, times etc. I really appreciate my family’s help!!
