Team4Tech volunteers will travel to Thika, Kenya in October 2014 to support the Karibu Centre in its efforts to improve education for underserved primary and preschool children.

About The Team
The Karibu Centre is a place of hope, refuge and learning for children from the slum communities surrounding Thika. More than 350 preschool children and 2,000 primary students benefit from the center's educational programs, which aim to eliminate the achievement gap for young learners. This project will support 100 teachers from two of the neighboring primary schools with a Teacher Training Academy, where they will be able to further develop and enhance their technology and teaching skills. Volunteers will help them develop lesson plans for an after-school STEM learning program for their students, to promote collaborative problem solving and other 21st century skills.

Team4Tech is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities in developing countries. We take teams of technology industry volunteers on two-week service projects in support of innovative non-profit organizations working to improve education in their local communities. Volunteers are able to leverage their skills and passions to implement technology solutions that benefit teachers and students.
Team4Tech volunteers raise funds to cover the cost of their trips and to contribute to the grants that Team4Tech makes to our project partners to support the purchase of necessary hardware, software and peripherals required for project implementation.
