My son Trey struggled with substance use disorder for many years, he entered a few rehabs and was part of an Intensive Out Patient program in Lake Charles, La. When he was 19 years old he entered a 12 month program that changed his life. Unfortunately after 15 months of sobriety he made a 10 second decision to take one pill that was laced with fentanyl. On November 23, 2020 our whole world turned upside down. I quickly realized we needed to do more for our community. We started a non-profit called Project Trey with our mission statement "Turning sorrow and despair into a caring and compassionate community one life at a time'. We advocate for addicted disorders, treatment and community awareness, educate and inform families on the dangers of alcohol, prescription pills, pressed pills, and synthetic drugs. As a community we have lost too many loved ones to this disease of addiction.  We stumbled across something amazing called Recovery Cafe, we did a lot of research and traveled to visit how this could help our community. This has been a year in the making and we are so excited and proud to announce Project Trey Recovery Cafe will be open very soon. What is Project Trey Recovery Cafe? This isn't the type of Cafe that sells sandwiches or latte's, we're a cafe that is a loving oasis; Joy and Strength through Unity!

Our hope and deepest desire is that our Recovery Cafe model will help transform the larger mental health and criminal justice systems and that longer-term, healing communities will become the new normal in how we treat those suffering from addicted disorders, trauma, and other mental health conditions.

Project Trey Recovery Cafe is committed to serve people who have experienced trauma and the results of trauma like substance use disorder,  addicted disorders, and other mental health challenges. Our core commitments:

-Create a community space that is drug and alcohol free, embracing, and healing.

-Nurture structures of loving accountability called Recovery Circles.

-Empower every member to be a contributor.

-Raise up Member Leaders.

-Ensure responsible stewardship.

-Work to end systemic racism, socioeconomic inequality, and oppression of any individual or identity group by holding spaces that are profoundly loving, inclusive, and honoring to all.
